Background:
The administration wishes to compel all companies providing encrypted communication over the internet to also provide a back door for law enforcement personnel.
The problems with this are staggering.
As I noted at the time; beyond the privacy concerns involved, this amounts to legislating an entrance for hackers. In effect, it insists that everything be just a touch less secure, in a specific way, and whoa gosh! We sure hope that it doesn't become rapidly apparent to the bad guys!
As I also noted, this is essentially already antiquated. There are any number of ways to encrypt your communications beyond those provided by your ISP. All it does is encourage people that may be up to seriously bad things, to use the devices outside of the governments writ.
