The Morning Blog, The Day After Edition

Well, that's it for the mid-term elections. Collectively, I think we Americans probably ought to take a nice, long bath. We're going to have to clean off all the mud that's been slung about the past few months.

On one hand, I think it's fairly healthy to have a Legislature and an Executive that are philosophically divided. I like to think that it helps reign in some of the more immoderate tendencies of both branches.

That said, many of the Republicans have frankly, been acting like crazy people. So have many of the Democrats to be fair. However, now is the time for them to grow up and actually start thinking about policy instead of rushing all over the landscape yelling about stuff. I wish them the best of luck with that, now's a time when we really, really could use a few grownups.

Let's dig in shall we?

Nice to wake up angry isn't it? First thing off the presses: Yemen of all places! Yemen the worlds shiny new Afghanistan for crying out loud...Is willing to exercise its judiciary more than we will. American born Anwar al-Awlaki has been charged and will be tried in abstentia by the Yemeni courts. Here in America, our Executive simply declares that he has the right to execute a citizen under the State Secrets doctrine without trial. Apparently, the Yemeni have more faith in their courts than we do. Pretty pathetic.

I don't understand why Columbia is being warm and fuzzy with Hugo Chavez all of a sudden. Not too long ago, the Venezuelan nutjob was practically threatening war, when he wasn't funding Columbian terrorists. Something is afoot. I'm sure of it. Spider sense tingling....

This is pretty horrific actually. It was on the news last night. Thankfully, the rather graphic pictures available on the television are not repeated here. A man was found beaten beyond recognition after being left for dead. Police are trying to identify him since he apparently has amnesia and is unable to identify himself.

Bad baby sitter vs. bad dog sitter.

Uh...California rejected Prop 19, which would legalize pot. However, they have decided that they should still tax it regardless. Even though it's still illegal to sell or buy so...Huh? Carriage before the horse, much?

Meh... aliens.

Now we're really fucked.

On a personal note, I love Dogfish 60 Minute IPA.

This is what happened today.

To end things on a positive note, here are a bunch of furry, little boo-boo faces.
