A Real Daily Horror

North and South Korea exchange artillery fire.

This strikes me as substantially worse than the sinking of the Cheonan. Though fewer soldiers died, the North fired their shells into a civilian area for the first time since the Korean War.

Further complicating this is the following:

1) The North recently revealed a new and massive nuclear enrichment facility.

2) This has to have something to do with the succession.

3) China was apparently in the dark about this whole thing. If the Chinese can't exert influence over these lunatics than bad times are coming for the Korean peninsula.

Regardless, this is some serious craziness. Seoul appears to be responding calmly. We'll have to see how it turns out.

File this under "International" and definitely "The Daily Horror"
