Unions have certainly been in the news quite a bit lately and though I may not necessarily agree with all of their aims it's important to recognize that there was unarguably a time and place when they were literally critical towards protecting working men and women. More than physically and financially, unions provided many workers with the only voice they had.
As such, it's important to note one of the tragedies that brought about the union movement as well as the fact finally that some degree of closure has finally been attained.
The Triangle Shirtwaist Company tragedy occurred 100 years ago. Only now, have they finally identified all of the 146 people that perished in that terrible fire.
