Yes, they're a very weird bunch. Yes, they resort to what can be diplomatically be described as a "hopeful" view of reality. But honestly, is it truly much stranger to believe that human civilization began after we were all dropped into volcanoes by a vengeful space emperor and that their founder had magical healing powers than it is to believe that we received our knowledge of the divine from a burning bush?
I don't say this to defend Scientology. Those folks are bonkers. I merely wish to point out that they really aren't that crazier than any other faith.
