The Morning Blog

NATO has made it clear that it's not targeting individuals in the Libyan campaign, only installations that are "military in nature". As such, it can be viewed as only the WILDEST OF COINCIDENCES, that Qaddafi's youngest son and three grandchildren were killed in a NATO strike. That said, Qaddafi has been known to stretch the truth regarding his relationship with victims before.

Meanwhile... How thoughtful of them to let us know! Hopefully, we had the courtesy to RSVP.

Quote of the Day: "The race needs more responsible adults who can actually do the job." From the same article, I'd say that hands down, the runner up is:

“At this point, there appears to be a flatness to the field,” said Mr. Wehner, who has been highly critical of Mr. Trump. “There’s a void right now, and even clowns can fill voids.”

Speaking of Clowns: Here's some fun with Seth Meyers at the White House Correspondents Dinner. "The Donald" is not amused. Not that he has much to laugh about.

Not that I can say much about South African laws regarding this sort of thing, but I think the vitriol expressed by this perfectly loathsome person should qualify as both hate-speech and free-speech. Granted, I don't come from a country still dealing with the after-effects of apartheid but I tend to believe that people expressing malevolent opinions will eventually, take enough rope and hang themselves. If he wants to turn South Africa into another Zimbabwe...Well, I can't imagine that the majority of South Africans could be all that pleased by the prospect. To be honest, I'm not at all surprised that he's found the support of the horrible Winnie Mandela.

As if moving in with your parents isn't bad enough.

I've always been a fan of the Looney Toons. And so, I am cautiously optimistic about them getting a new show on Cartoon Network. Being a proud Pittsburgher, I'm also glad that someone with a local connection will be doing the voices. That said, I kind of think that characters should be retired with the actors that did their original voices. There's something unspeakable about beloved characters with the wrong voice.

Always nice to read a a defense of Atheists like myself, especially when we're widely considered to be "immoral, wicked and angry". Why do Americans dislike Atheists? Maybe it's because we keep acting all high and mighty and morally superior because unlike Christians, we rarely spend time in prison:

Consider that at the societal level, murder rates are far lower in secularized nations such as Japan or Sweden than they are in the much more religious United States, which also has a much greater portion of its population in prison. Even within this country, those states with the highest levels of church attendance, such as Louisiana and Mississippi, have significantly higher murder rates than far less religious states such as Vermont and Oregon.

One usually doesn't find promising civil liberty legislation coming out of Texas so... Way to go Texas! A bill has been introduced to the state legislature making it a felony for an agent or officer to grope someones genitals without probable cause.

Here's one for the nerd out there: An interview with the man that basically created the massive industry that is video games: Shigeru Miyamoto. Considering that game sales easily trump every other artistic medium, it's something everyone might be interested in for that matter.

Finally...

This makes me feel substantially better about Pittsburgh's problem with stink bugs.

Sorry the post is a bit late and a bit short today. What can I say? "Iron Monkey" is on TV.
