Mission Statement

This sort of serves as a mission statement for what I hope to do here. At least the direction I hope to move this blog in. From this years Man Booker Prize winner :

"We have created a false division between laughter and thought, between comedy and seriousness, between the exhilaration that the great novels offer when they are at their funniest, and whatever else it is we now think we want from literature."

I like that. Then again, it's just a blog. But all the same, I hope that rather than maintain a laugh against a frown, I manage to embrace them both. Congratulations, Howard Jacobson! I've never read a single thing you've ever written but wow! You sure are quotable!
