Apparently, this deeply, deeply irritating language is being preserved by UNESCO. I say irritating well aware of this conundrum:
I love whistling personally. I think that most people are quite happy to whistle themselves. And I think we all sort of pity those who can't.
That said, there's something about someone...ANYONE...else whistling that I and most people (based on a very small unscientific poll), find to just be beyond irritating.
Anyways, I came to this video via this page over at Foreign Policy. Good reading. It's a break down of strange traditions being protected by UNESCO.
