Nerd Bait

They're killing off who now? What immortal superhero is getting the axe, this time? Just saying here but wouldn't this be a bit more climactic and exciting if they didn't keep getting constantly resurrected, reborn, re-imagined, cloned or saved via holes in the space-time continuum? Wouldn't it be just a bit more compelling if...Spiderman died? For good? Forever?

Yes, children would cry. Undoubtedly, people would be up in arms. But the strength of the character (and I would argue all characters), is their mortality. Even the demi-gods of antiquity had their flaws: Achilles had his famous heel. Why not kill off the Webslinger? It might give a new character a chance to come into his own.
